I think I used a black TEAC model 24x (can't recall the model # atm).  Mine is hooked up with a 40 pin to microIDE adaptor I bought on eBay (You need to also install an IDE splitter type board on the internal 44pin socket, like an IDE Fix or similar because the cdrom drive is set to be master so put it on the second ide channel).

yeah it works fine, but mine is in an A1200 and I use one of the old DCE buffered IDE interfaces with IDEFix as the software.  As I said, the slimline cd rom drive is on the second IDE channel as it only works as master (I have a 1Gb IDE 2.5" disk on the first IDE port.  I use the native CacheCDFS that comes with IDEFix for the CD driver software.  Seems to work brilliantly.  My machine has 3.0 roms and an Apollo 68030/40MHz accelerator in the trapdoor.
