Amiga 500 plus woes
« on: December 30, 2024, 04:18:19 PM »
Hi folks, I wonder if any of folks could help me diagnose problems with 2 A500 plus board I’m currently trying to fix.

Board 1&2, no video signal, power light comes on bright and stays bright. Sometimes the floppy LED also comes on bright and stays bright too. I’ve tried several Gary chips with no change. Have also tried swapping CIA’S again with no change. This board was working then one day it just failed.

Tried several CPU’s as well but no different. I’m fairly new to repairing these so have very limited experience. Any ideas will be greatly received.

Yeah that was the first thing I did. Removed the old batteries and checked the traces around that area with a multimeter.

The sockets actually look pretty good. The Gary had abit of green on it but the others are spotless. Tbh there was virtually no corrosion on either board

The Gary chip itself had no corrosion on it. A few of the socket pins had some green on it though. On the other board there was no corrosion at all and it worked fine for several months. I’m waiting on new sockets arriving so I’ll attempt to remove the Gary socket
