Congrats on your decision to get involved again.  From what I have seen, the SAM460 is capable of running OS4 quite nicely at a decent speed.  It should provide a good OS4 experience for you to get back into the Amiga community with.

I prefer MorphOS to OS4, but I have just recently decided to join the OS4 users in a big way with my order of the AmigaOne X1000 "First Contact" system from AmigaKit.

You should get your SAM460 well before Christmas, but I may have to wait a few weeks longer.  I look forward to your report of how you like your SAM 460 when it arrives.

According to Acube I had to order it this week to make sure its here for christmas.  Being a while since I listened to my xmas mp3 list on AmigaAmp ;)

I admire MorphOS for what it does and what it became but its just not what Amiga stands for me.  I hope OS4 will have a long life and that we'll see more modern machines.  The X1000 would have been my #1 choice but my budget is limited to about $1200 espescially that I don't think I would do much more with the X1000 because of the "strict" available software situation.

I did not mean to discount or lessen my congratulations to you by including any references to MorphOS, or to my purchase of the X1000 in my previous post.  MorphOS on Mac, or Pegasos, or Efika hardware, and OS4 on the X1000 are not for everyone.  I think you will be very happy with your SAM 460 when it arrives.  I also hope that if the opportunity ever presents itself to you, you will take the time to experience MorphOS more fully someday.  It is different, but for me and for many others, it is every bit as much an Amiga as any other system.  I don't write this to stir up anyone, or try to change anyone's mind.  Just my own experience that I am relaying and my desire to have all Amiga users to keep an open mind to all of the Amiga experiences that are available today.

Enjoy your new SAM 460 and OS4.x, but don't close your mind to other things out there.  It does not have to place you inside a group who hates other choices, just because you prefer one over the other.  (I am not saying that ALL OS4 users hate MorphOS, or any of the other alternative choices, but a small few do.  There are bad apples on all sides always, and the MorphOS group of users has it's share too.  I also realize that I am treading on thin ice and might invite these "Bad Apples" from any side to jump into this thread to show their stupidity, but hope that my comments will be taken in the spirit they are offered).

Yep, seems I'm one among many that ordered a 460 lately :)

Updated news:  UPS states that my sam460 will be delivered monday! yay!

Funny tho I've ordered a couple of things from AmigaKit the same day but they aren't here yet.  Cheers to Acube for fast service :)

I am sure AmigaKit is just swamped with extra work in preparing for the sales of the soon to be released "First Contact" AmigaOne X1000 systems and the hundreds of buyers trying to get one.

I am sure you will have your items from them shortly, as they have always been very prompt with all of my purchases from them (which have been many).
