Re: BOH - The Christmas SurpriCe

I guess I should have waited a day or two before I ordered my 3 copies (1 for me and 2 for Christmas gifts), so I could have gotten the lowered price and free shipping.  Oh well, just my luck these days.

Is there any plan to port BOH to MorphOS2.x?  If not, why are there versions for so many other OSes and not one for MorphOS2.x?  Would you allow another developer to work on porting BOH to MorphOS2.x, either on their own, or in collaboration with you?

If I had looked closer and realized that there was not a port for MorphOS2.x before I purchased the 3 copies, I probably would have changed my mind and not purchased it until such port was announced, or completed.  I hope the reason for a MorphOS2.x port of BOH not being available has nothing to do with the past "Red" vs "Blue" wars.

Edit:  Are you sure BOH does not work on MorphOS2.x, as many AmigaOS3.x games and applications  work flawlessly on MorphOS2.x with its built-in "Trance" JIT 68k Amiga emulator? (even some AmigaOS4.x games & applications work when using the OS4emu patch inside MorphOS2.x)

Quick premise: rushed reply, I might have to elaborate later...

No, absolutely! I like the idea of BOH running on MorphOS myself, but the price is just unbearable :(

Well, after searching through the FAQ on the BOH site and generally looking everywhere else on the site, I am not convinced that you are being completely honest (with us, and perhaps not even with yourself) about your reasons for NOT supporting MorphOS2.x, or allowing anyone else to collaborate with you and support such a port for you (It could be done with no required time or effort on your part)  It would seem to me that MorphOS2.x running on any G4 Mac w/800MHz or faster, could probably run BOH with no problem and there are several MorphOS developers that have already completed many ports of SDL games & applications to MorphOS2.x.  I am quite sure at least one of them would be willing to support a port of your game, either officially, or unofficially released by you.

Your quote that the "price is just unbearable" to support a MorphOS2.x port sounds a bit dramatic and leads me to think that there is perhaps some unstated element of your not wanting to support MorphOS2.x, or allow anyone else to port it.  I will give you the benefit of "doubt", but it is very disappointing that you have chosen to exclude MorphOS2.x users for any reason. :(

I had a long reply to explain my point of view, but it doesn't really matter, so I will just post the first sentence of it here.

Yes, it is very presumptuous of me to state my opinion that I believe that since the developer is an AmigaOS4.x user, he has made a choice which prevents his work from being ported to MorphOS2.x.

Edit:  @motorollin,  I don't feel that the MorphOS users are entitled to get a port of BOH, but since it is a game written by an Amiga programmer, it would be nice if all the Amiga users that have chosen to use MorphOS instead of AmigaOS4.x could use it on their choice of NG Amiga system and it is a shame that there is no option that is acceptable to the developer that would allow such a port to be completed.

He has made a choice, and it is exactly the choice you say it is - not to port his software to your chosen OS. The reasons for that have been quite clearly stated by Simone. Whether or not you believe him is quite irrelevant.

It is relevant to me.
