Yup. 2 seconds with the PLCC remover. Wince at the sound of cracking plastic because it is so brittle after all these years and plop. Shove the new one in the right way round and voila.
I almost hate to admit this, but with my first A2000 when I bought a DKB MegaChip I didn't have a PLCC remover and looked on the Internet for other ways to remove the existing Agnus chip. The only thing I could find was one guy who had success with drilling a small hole through the bottom of the mobo so the Agnus chip could be pushed out. I had not been in possession of my used A2000 for very long and it took a lot of guts for me to take a drill to it, but it worked. I did not know where to get a PLCC remover in those days and was too impatient to wait for one that would take a week to get by ordering it. I do not suggest that this method be used in these days when it is easier to find a PLCC remover, and quicker mail service can get you one from a fellow Amiga user to borrow so your wait to get one is not long if you can't find one local to you. In fact I have two of them now if anyone needs one.
