I would say that the chance of this happening diminish day-by-day....sorry.

Why would you say something so ........... uninformed?

They don't make any new PPC mini's so obviously the available HW decreases day-by-day, hence my comment ;)

Don't get me wrong though, I've got nothing against MorphOS so respect to the developers if they can port it to new HW platforms :)

What does the fact that discontinued Mac hardware availability is constantly decreasing due to eventual hardware failures have to do with MorphOS for the MacMini ever being completed by the MorphOS dev team?

Thousands upon thousands of PPC MacMini's were probably produced, I have not taken the time to research a final number of sales, but I think that the supply of used PPC MacMini's will satisfy the demand from the MorphOS community of, what, 500 to 600 current users and maybe if we are really optomistic, that number could double, or more, with the release of MorphOS on the MacMini and still there would not be a shortage of G4 PPC MacMini computers, unless you think all the old PPC MacMini's are being sent to the trash bin.

I have seen so many people post negative comments about MorphOS being ported to used and discontinued hardware instead of something new, but I vigorously disagree with this sentiment, as I see the MacMini port as the most logical, quick port to do while waiting for better hardware to become available, or to try to gain some additional users and additional performance beyond the Pegasos1&2 and Efika to tide us over until the dev team can complete a port to a better hardware solution (hopefully new hardware that is still available). Given that MorphOS is a PPC OS, it just made sense to port it to another PPC hardware platform and the MacMini gives a performance boost over the Pegasos2, while offering a low cost to find and buy.

I think it makes perfect sense to port MorphOS to PPC mac. There's loads of old mac kit kicking around.

It would be rather nice if OS4.1 were ported too.

Amen to that!  Now that we have AmigaOS4.1 released for the Pegasos, maybe one of the next targets will be one of the G4 PPC Mac models.

If Hyperion really wants to impress me and get me to seriously consider switching from MorphOS to AmigaOS4.x, all they have to do is port AOS4.x to a G4 PPC Mac model that is faster and better than the lowly MacMini.  Not too much to ask for and without anything better than the SAMep and SAMflex boards available right now, why not port AmigaOS4.x to one or more of the old PPC Mac's?

EXACTLY!  I would be interested in AmigaOS4.x and/or MorphOS2.x, or 3.x on one of those and would like to see Hyperion and/or the MorphOS developer team include support for the G5 and multiple processors in future versions someday, but I am afraid that by the time multiprocessing could be coded into either of those OSes, we will all be too old to care and ALL of the G5 PPC Power Mac towers will be so old that they will no longer boot up.  Our old Amiga systems have lasted 20+ years and still boot, but I doubt that any G5 systems will be able to say the same 15 years from now.  We all have dreams of a more modern and powerful AmigaOS4.x or MorphOS2.x, or 3.x system.

I can get a kitted out 2.5 GHz dual G5 power mac for roughly the same price as a bare Sam board...

hehehe... I used to have oldER cars that I fixed up.  twin turbo 85 camaro puttin down 700rwhp, 505 BBC in the car before the twin turbo setup, 68 Camaro w/a 383 sbc + 6-71 blower.  After a while I got tired of old cars.  I wanted something with a/c, smooth ride and can put down some quick 1/4 ET's so I got my vette. It has all the bolt-ons + a cam kit, currently at 446rwhp.  I'm piecing together a nitrous kit and it'll be bottle fed 125hp :)

I am in negotiations for a 1971 VW Karmann Ghia coupe that needs lots of work.  If I ever have the money and do get the car, I would like to flip the trans to make it a mid-engine and either build a high performance VW motor, or install a turboed Subaru or Mazda Rotary and wildly customize the rest of the car.  Since I live in Big Bear Lake, at about 7,000 ft. above Sea level I don't need A/C.  Windshield defogging/defrosting might be a bit of a challenge, but I doubt I would drive it in the Winter anyway.

Might be a fun mountain road ralley style of fun car.  It amazes me that there is still an active aircooled VW industry and community.  My Son's first car is a 1971 VW Beetle project car we are chopping into a Baja Bug and should be ready to use by next Spring.  I am enjoying the nostalgia of working on old VW's again.  Goes hand-in-hand with my nostalgic Amiga collection.  Guess I am just a retro kind of guy.

Edit:  If I had the money for a Vett, it would have to be a 1963 split rear window model.
