I know what you mean. Argos gets a bad reputation, especially because of Chavs buying jewelry there. Now I have to admit to you that I bought a watch there, as a last resort. I needed one with dual digital and analogue display, all steel (including strap) and waterproof. You'd be surprised how difficult it is to get all those features.
In the end only Argos had what I wanted. I've had this watch for a few years now and it has worked perfectly.
The one before that was a cheap watch I bought in SA with a replacement steel strap. That was a really nice watch, very tough and went through a lot of abuse. But one fine day I was in very rough seas in Amanzimtoti and got dumped pretty badly. When I finally surfaced, coughing and spluttering, my swimming trunks were around my ankles and my watch was gone :cry:
