Bluetooth audio
« on: October 15, 2025, 04:17:58 PM »
I've "promoted" my A600GS from my desk with a monitor to sitting under our main TV.  Unfortunately, although HDMI audio worked fine with the monitor, it doesn't with the TV.  I was aware of this potential issue from previous forum posts, so simply planned to use Bluetooth headphones as a workaround.

Unfortunately, although the headphones pair and connect successfully (according to the A600GS Bluetooth menu), I get no sound whatsoever.  I know it's not the headphones as I can pair them with other things and the audio is fine.  There is no sound on either the A600GS menu or anything I launch from it (including AmiBench).  I have the latest firmware update.

I looked in the audio settings but can only see the rear output port or HDMI as options.  I assume Bluetooth audio should just work regardless of the option chosen here (I've tried both just in case), but am I missing some trick to get Bluetooth audio working?

I appreciate the reply, but unfortunately mute isn’t enabled.  I’m toying with the idea of buying a cheap speaker to use with the 3.5mm jack, as I’ve tested that and it works fine, but hoping someone might have a solution here first.

1. Often my phone gets there first, preventing proper connection, even if "paired" so make sure any other devices that you have used them with are not stealing the connection, can be fiddly with devices without GUI of some kind.

2. Occasionally connection needs cycling on and off a couple of times. Less often I need to start from a fresh session on the A600GS.

The final ting to check is that the attached and working device is selected in the audio setting section, this *should* happen automatically for new connections, but might need manually setting if settings have been edited by you at some point.
I really appreciate the detailed reply but unfortunately nothing has helped.  I knew point 1 wasn't an issue for me as these headphones were only previously paired to my iPad, and always disable Bluetooth on my iPad while trying to get the headphones working - it definitely wasn't connecting there.

As to point 2, no amount of pairing/unpairing/connecting/disconnecting/rebooting has helped.

You mention it should be selected in the audio settings, but it has never appeared there.  The only 2 things I have are for the rear output port or HDMI.  I have never edited any settings (other than toggling between the two options).

Thanks balrog74, that screenshot has confirmed what I should be seeing which gave me the confidence to keep trying broadblues suggestion (connecting/disconnecting etc.)

I kept on playing about with it in the Bluetooth menu and one time noticed something flashed up on the top right, but it was too quick for me to read.  But it gave me hope and - sure enough - the headphones appeared in the Audio settings!

My hopes were quickly dashed when I selected them and still got no sound - BUT - after I rebooted, and reconnected them in the Bluetooth menu, this time they worked!  Just to be sure I rebooted and reconnected again and they still worked.  They also seemed to connect first time (that's something I'll continue to test).

Previously when I was trying I might not have noticed the pop-up in the top right, so didn't go to the Audio settings menu to select them (which was my mistake) and just kept on connecting/disconnecting etc. (and even rebooting) thinking that I would get an audio cue in my headphones that they had connected (which you don't).

But anyway - thanks again to all who helped, it really is much appreciated.  Now I can do some serious Amiga gaming on our main TV!
