Subway and the A600

Thankx to Mozzerfan I now have a new A600. I put my Indivision 030, Flicker Fixer, and 1Mb Chip RAM expansion on, and aside of the extreme heat issues (which heat up even my 600 this time around), everything has been running stable.

I then installed the Subway since I have a 1200 that needed modded in order for it to work on there. The problem is that first off, the freaking Clock Port on the 1Mb expansion is WAY to close to the Flicker Fixer. In fact, as is, the cable is too high to press the Flick Fixer down far enough to not get a red screen when Booting.

So I used my dremel tool and sanded down the connector as far as possible so I could seat the Flicker Fixer. I was careful to follow the guide lines on the A603 and plugged in the cable the correct way.

After a few tries, I was able to boot up my system without issues. I installed the software that came on the CD, plugged in a few USB drives, USB Game Pads, etc. (All which work fine on my MorphOS machine) and NONE of them detected.

I gave up on this venture and continued to use my Amiga, when all of a sudden I heard a buzzing coming from inside the 600 from around where the A603 and Subway were seated. My computer then locked up and the noize continued.

Immediately I shut the system down, opened it up, and EVERYTHING was hot, A603, 030 Heat Sink, Flicker Fixer, the chips on my A600, the Subway, you name it!

I then removed the Subway, let the system cool, and rebooted and have not had problems since, though the entire system still heats up after about 20 minutes use. Ironically the info on the 030 says that it is only supposed to be Luke Warm after 1 hour of use.

What gives?


I figured I'd post here before bothering AmigaKit again, but if no one else seems to have similar experiences, then I'll make a ticket with them.

Are you kidding?!

I'm using a 350 that used to power a PC with a LOT more than what is currently in my Amiga.

I don't see the logic, though I'm sure there can also be factors that I don't understand to.

I just read about Anaiis in Amiga Future last night! Sounds like it's going to be the software I stick with (once I get this working) as Poseidon is a HUGE bloated piece of...

...well it's a resource Hog and my 030 hates it! My Amiga shouldn't even have to run bloatware.


Anyhow, I am going to write Amigakit, I don't even want to stick that subway back in my computer in the least. I'd test it in my 1200, but hey guess what, I have to desolder and resolder pins just to use the damn thing with it. Which I suppose now means a Delfina is out of the question as well. :/

I will say that it's is fine in Trident form on my MorphOS machine though.

It is small and compact. Covering all the basic bases that will perfectly suit my 600's needs.

platon42: Ya no offence man, I just say or in this case type what ever is on my mind.
 I like my apps to be quick and responsive which is the reason I am happy to be using your software on MorphOS, but will not be using it on my 600 (assuming I ever get this working correctly).
If I get my clock port pins adjusted on my 1200, I may well use it on there seeing as it's been said that the 060 handles your software just fine.

That being said, I do thank you for having written the software. Had you not done so, the Amiga community would be sadder than it is already. NO USB!!!! NOOOOO!!!!

So thank you for being the first (that I'm aware of) to write software that brings USB device support to our beloved Amigas!
