newicons won't go translucent

I'm using Magellan II, dunno if that has anything to do with it, but I selected no border and translucency in NewIcon's Prefs and in the Magellan II Icon prefs, and yet there remain borders and all that.
Earth has a lot of things other folks might want... like the whole planet. And maybe these folks would like a few changes made, like more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and room for their way of life. - William S. Burroughs

Cammy: I'm just going to have to fly you over here to straighten me out cause I'm still having issues with Shape Shifter, and I can't get Birdie to do a thing.

I read the docs over and over again, added Birdie into my Startup-Sequence as per the instructions, I even put the image files I wanted to use in Birdie's direct path, but still nothing. I don't even get errors from birdie about missing arguments or what ever when booting up.
