The XBOX is actually quite easy to hack, infact I can do one in less than a half hour without a MOD chip, it only requires a network connection to your computer, a simple software kit you can grab off the net, an original copy of the game 007: Agent Under Fire, and the ability to make two simple solder connections on the mother board. Installing a new Hard Drive with the new user interface in easier than installing Winblows on a real PC. :)

The emu runs very well considering that it is currently only on version 2. The guy who ported it (Xport) is responsible for 99% of the emulator ports currently available for the XBOX, and I can tell you, not only is this guy fast, he is VERY talented at that! :)

The only real draw back to this emu, is that it currently does not support XBOX's that have an extra 64Mb of RAM installed in them, but other than that, it runs more or less just like WinUAE on a 780 some Mhz PC with 64MB of RAM would, and I imagine this will only get better in the future considering a lot of emulators on the XBOX as of late have been taking advantage of some Virtual Memory trick that allows the program to think the XBOX has twice the RAM, thus we can play games like Metal Slug 3 and 4 on Mame or FinalBurn with ease! That is not to say WinUAE on the XBOX will feature this trick, but I suppose it should be possible. :)

I'm not sure if there is a way around live yet or not, I don't there there is though. I'm too poor for live, let alone cable or DSL so I don't keep up with all that.
I know if you get a MOD chip that can be turned off, and leave your original hard drive in, then mount the second on externally you can do it, but that's the only way I know.

I forgot to mention that there is also a free alternative to XBOX Live that you can use as well...

And for some UAEx news, version 3 just came out and now you can among many other things, play CD32 and CDTV discs (iso and mp3 support on the way), set Chip and Fast RAM to 8MB, ect! :)
