Set your PC's ethernet card's IP address as 192.168.2.1.

On OS4 it should be like this: Go to your A1, set the (Roadshow?) Amiga IP to 192.168.2.2, with gateway 192.268.2.1. Put Roadshow online.

That should be it. Report any problems and I'll try to tell you where you're going wrong, but remember I don't have Roadshow.

Uhm, yeah, Win98 doesn't have gate software. Win98 SE does.

I wouldn't know, I only had 98... :-(

I remember now that I used my Amiga as the gate when I did this myself, not the PC, sorry for that. Connection sharing might be automatic on SE, just try setting it up with the IPs as I wrote below. If it doesn't work, Wingate is a very easy to set up option, and certainly more worthwhile than the reviled ICS.

Go to the control panel, select network. You should see two entries called "TCP/IP" - one for your network card, one for your modem. Click the entry for the network card, and it has a tab called IP Address. Go to "Specify an IP address" and enter it there. For the "subnet" box
use 255.255.255.0 if you are in doubt what to enter there.

Uh, yeah. That should be 168 - damn typos. :-x

Actually that number doesn't really matter. 192.168.x.x is used for LANs generally because it doesn't clash with internet IPs.

192.168.2.1 - PC

192.168.2.2 - A1

That should be it. Sorry for typo. :-\

I really recommend a router, by the way; you can get all of your machines online at the same time, Peg, PC and A1, and transfer files between them all, with no need for gate software or having one machine on all the time.

@Wilse

If there is an option on your A1 to specify Gate IP, enter your PC IP address (192.168.2.1) there.
