I bought it last year right after release and was disappointed by the speed even with the latest update, the game is not smooth (and fast) in 640*480 on a BPPC240/060+BVPPC
If you mean Payback, if you have a graphics card Payback is amazingly smooth and fast and beautiful using the freely available Warp3D and Warpup executables. In fact, the WarpUp one alone should get you great speed even on a very old graphics system like AGA.
