I connected as device 0, cdrom drive 1 and cdrw unit 2, the CDRW has the termination jumper set. It didn't help
The termination jumper activates the inbuilt passive termination in the drive. You
cannot and must not use passive termination with a BPPC - it says so very clearly in the manual. You must get an active terminator and plug it into your chain, then turn off all passive termination. I don't know if this will fix the HD problem but you should seriously avoid passive termination for the sake of your SCSI controller and drives.
