Deinterlacing is done by upsampling the scan frequency from 15kHz to 30kHz. So while you could theoretically do it, the output would fry any TV or PCTV card. If you want to look at high resolution screens on a normal TV, interlace is the ONLY way to do it. TVs just aren't up to higher scanrates.
