Yet another hurricane on the way!

Yep, that's right, after Charley, Frances, and with Ivan pounding itself to death on the USA gulf coast, here comes ANOTHER one. According to NOAA, Tropical Storm Jeanne has been strengthening and just been upgraded to hurricane status, and is currently sweeping in over Haiti.

This makes number six this year globally - not yet unusual, 7.7 being the average, 3.6 being major hurricanes like Charley, Frances and Ivan. But if this one strengthens and hits the US, it will make the fourth this year to do so. Can insurers handle this? Can the people handle it?

And another. Tropical storm Karl will strengthen to a hurricane today or tomorrow. Jeanne has weakened to a tropical storm but is still giving the Dominican Republic a pounding, and might strengthen up again, although it will never be a monster like Ivan. Karl might, however.
