Yeah, that's a danger with Li-ion batteries. Their energy density is so high that if you short them, it produces an enormous amount of heat in a small time. And the battery electrolyte is lithium salts in
ether. You don't have to be a chemist to see what can happen.
Thats why Li-ion are sold in very specialised battery packs with protection circuits all over the place to protect against shorts, overcharging, undercharging, etc... Hopefully in duplicate too, but you never know.
