What kickstart to use for my games A2000?
« on: June 27, 2013, 07:43:49 PM »
For my 'retro room' I'm currently installing some computers permanently, others will be swappable. Among them my A4000/060 that I've recently upgraded to a tower.
Pure for old games directly from disks I'd like to setup an A2000. I have one in working order, two diskdrives, nice keyboard 2MB SupraRAM board, about everything I need.

But then the kickstart: I have 1.2, 1.3 (broken?) and 2.04. Which kickstart should I use for highest compatibility? I've heard people say 1.2 is the best way to go.
I just want to load games from floppy, I have gazillion of them. The AGA games I'll just play from my A4000 with WHDLoad, but that's actually less fun than the A2000 ticking the disks away.

So, long story, but: install Kickstart 1.2, 1.3 or 2.04?

Yeah I thought I could score a 1.3 rom for about €5 locally (I think I must have one or two spare ones somewhere, but buying a working one for this silly money doesn't want to make me search for it or break open a working A500 :P )
The room is still work in progress but it will contain a lot of machines, including some Amigas.

I've had a game in the past that did not work on my 1.3 A500 but did work on the 1.2 A500 of a friend. That's about 20 years ago though :P
