If you look in the
util/arc directory on
Aminet you'll find lots of DMS related utilities and applications.
At the most basic level, you would need
dms111.run, and then you would get the command line template when you ran the DMS executable. Using this it's easy to write a .dms file to an Amiga floppy disk, though you may encounter difficulties if you don't have a hard drive.
