I don't know about the speed issues, but I do know that Miami's InetD is pretty bad. Don't know about MiamiDx though. On the other hand, Miami supports DHCP, which is missing in AmiTCP.

The DHCP isn't really an issue for me, though. I've got this nifty broadband router that takes care of all that stuff for me. Plus I can have four computers online at once.

I wouldn't know about the speed increase since I just have an unregistered copy of Miami for testing stuff on lo0 (gW3S etc.).
