Aniway announced:
As I recall, I had to configure the PC and sign on to windows (after a reboot) as 'pcguest'.
I made up a password to sign in with from the PC so I could give a password on my Amiga to sign into the system with, for 'pcguest'. (Apparently the Samba software doesn't like not having a password.)
;-) In my experience, Samba requires no password to offer the Amiga's shares to the network. Software used to read the PCs shares on the Amiga may require a login and password, depending on which flavor ot Windows you're running. On my setup, SMBFS allows the login and password to be added as arguments to the command. Thus, it can be written into a script and launched from a Workbench icon, or from a tools dock, as I do it.
;-) Also, the login and password don't have to be the same ones that Windows is logged in under; they just have to be a pair that Windows recognizes.
