;-) I had similar problems with a GVP impact series II expansion drive for my A500. I added what I thought were 4-meg SIMMS to the board, and moved the jumper accordingly. Upon reboot, the OS reported a full eight megabytes of fast RAM.
:-? However, if I ran a directory utility and started adding files to the RAM: disk, the 'miggy would crash as soon as it filled up the first two megs. It seems the SIMMS had only been 1-meg versions.
:-) Replacing those SIMMS with real 4-meg SIMMS did the trick. Perhaps your situation is similar?
