:-( I was going to suggest typing "showconfig" into a shell window, but I've just tried it out for myself to be sure, and the Buster data is not listed.  Opening the case is probably going to be the only way.

;-) Actually, if the Zorro slots were empty, and all the back planes were removed, a strong flashlight and good eyes might be enough to notice a few details such as the number of memory SIMMs on board, or whether the buster chip was soldered diectly to the board instead of being socketed, and like that.
:-D Of course, you'd have to be familiar with the A4000 motherboard's layout already...
