SCSI to CF adaptors!
« on: November 01, 2008, 04:56:47 AM »
I want to use a CF card to backup, and data transfer between an A3000 and a PC running winUAE.

Found these options for the A3000 scsi interface:

Adtron SDDS Cardpak™ PC Card Drive, internal SCSI to CF reader

an End-of-Life Product $?

Microtech PCD-50B, SCSI-2 Internal 5-slot CF Card Read-Writer

$169

ACARD SCSI to IDE Adapter, Model AEC-7720U

$80

Addonics Embedded Single Slot and Dual Slot IDE-CF adapters

single slot $22
dual slot $24

feedback or suggestions from someone who is already doing this?
Know of sny Amiga vendors selling a package like this?

Thanks for the tips on the ACARD AEC-7720U, thats is s great price, I ordered 4, when i googled I could only find them at the $80 list price.

I also ordered 6 of the IDE to CF adaptors

1 USB Hub and All-in-1 Memory Card Reader for the PC/uae system

and 3 4GB CF ultra memory cards

I've decided that the Quantum 4.3S hd in the A3000 is getting flaky, causing lots of crashed and reboots.

These crashes prompted me to back up the Quantum hd to the PC/WinUAE machine and when the Quantum hd was plugged into it crashed on that computer also. Seems to be overheating, because after the harddrive cools off its ok again for about 2-3hrs.

So the CF memory cards will now be the new harddrive and floppy replacement as it seems the only working floppy drive I have anymore is the Catwesel installed in the WinUAE machine :-(
