Amiga TFT crash
« on: January 24, 2007, 08:48:01 PM »
Hi,
I've just connected an TFT screen to my A1200/BVision. My amiga uses wireless internet too. However, since I connected the TFT screen, my Amiga crashes using internet. I've now just connected my original monitor again and it seems to run stable. It all points to interference with electronical signals, but it this true ?

Do TFT screens produce lots of ether noise ??? and if so, can this cause my Amiga to crash when using wireless internet ? When I'm not using internet the TFT screen with my Amiga run just fine.

What to do ?

Hi,

It crashes when I start using Aweb and/or TwinVNC. The screen turns black and the computer resets. Sometimes it crashes within a few seconds and sometimes it lasts for a minute. I'm not using any other wireless connected applications. The strange thing is that it doesn't behave this way when I'm using my normal monitor. I did have to increase the space between my router and LCD otherwise the router would crash whenever I start using miami. All lights went off.

I do have a A1200 desktop with PPC and BVision inside. I'm using a PCMCIA wireless card.

Are LCD/TFT monitors known to produce more interference ? Could it be that I haven't matched the frequency of the monitor properly ? It will display the screen but will it create more noise than it should if they don't match properly ? (I'm using my old settings based on a 85 Hz monitor while the TFT can handle 75 Hz. Still works though.

 :-?

Could it be that the TFT screen drains more power from my Amiga. Perhaps when using wireless too my powersupply gives up, or something in this direction ?

I do have an active monitor switch box with it's own powersupply. I'll try to add this too. Perhaps it works than. I might need to find a bigger powersupply ? (Using a modded PC one at the moment)

Well, it has been confirmed. My powersupply is the problem. I've now connected an active monitor switch between the TFT screen and my Amiga and it runs fine. I think I'm at the edge of my powersupply so I need a new one.

Case closed.

No, since the PPC card was added I required a modded PC supply. But this thing was modded ages ago and came from a small PC. I don't know how much it can supply but apparently not enough anymore.

My other A1200 has a 060 and PCMCIA card and runs fine on an original A500 supply. They are the best!
