Is a KickFlash one of those boards to stop the Amiga having to reboot when you load OS3.9? What does it plug into and how does it work?

What's the difference between an A4000D/030 and an A4000D/040? If the CPU is on a daughterboard then surely a difference in badge is all there is...   right?
