Internet through router with Genesis
« on: January 18, 2006, 06:42:07 PM »
I've decided to connect my A1200 to the net with my router, a Linksys WAG354G.  It's been working fine for a couple of months with my WinXP machine connected to it.

I have a PCMCIA ethernet adapter on my A1200, which was working fine with my previous Netgear router.  I have changed the settings on my Linksys one so it doesn't use DHCP.  I've set up Genesis in almost the same way as I did when I was using the Netgear router, except the gateway is 192.168.1.1 with the Linksys router.

Thing is, when I click 'online' in genesis, it appears to connect with no errors.  The light on the router comes on when I do this to show the ethernet cable is connected.  Also, the amiga's ip appears in the router setup screen (on my pc, which is also connected via wifi).  However, I cannot connect to any sites in Aweb or Ibrowse, can't connect in Jabberwocky, nothing seems to work.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Ah, sorted it... yes is was that I hadn't entered the DNS ip as my router's ip (I think).  Put that in a now it's working well.  Forgot how slow web browsing was on 060 and AGA, well at least ebay is.  But it works :)
