Highway USB card problem
« on: September 01, 2004, 06:15:05 PM »
Hi,

I have just bought a Highway usb card from the company KDH-Datentechnik via Ebay.  I'm having trouble getting the card to work however.

I've installed the card and the poseidon software.  I'm pretty sure the card is plugged in correctly, as in the early startup screen it shows up in the expansion section, and it's also reported by showconfig.

When I go into the poseidon configuration, I select the hardware tab, and choose the highwayusb.device.  Poseidon says the card is not in use, and when I click on 'online' I get the error message 'opening devs:usbhardware/highwayusb.device unit 0 failed hardware failed self-test (-7)'.  Sounds to me like I have a faulty card but as yet KDH have not replied to my email regarding this.  Has anyone else had experience of this?

Jimmy

The machine I am using is an A4000/040 desktop.  I have recently bought this system, I used to have an A1200, so I'm not too clued up on the A4000s.  It has no zorro cards installed other than the highway, but it has a commodore flicker fixer in the video slot (I think, the one underneath the zorro slots).  It has 3.1 ROMs and I'm running OS3.9.  I have tried the Highway board in all 3 zorros slots all of which gives the same result.  I also used to have a subway board for my A1200 which worked with no problems.
