Accelerator ram limitation options
« on: October 12, 2005, 09:54:07 PM »

I have an Apollo 68030/50mhz accelerator which takes the GVP 64pin simms.  I'm considering selling it and buying something which can take 72pin simms, however i can only seem to find a 40mhz of these accelerators immediately available. So which is faster, a 40mhz 68030 with FPU and 32+ MB ram, or a 68030/50mhz with no FPU and 8MB fast ram ?

68040's and up are a bit out of my price range at the moment.

I've been thinking about trying to hack my own ram from a 72pin simm.. maybe printing up a 64pin simm board and soldering 16mb worth of ram on it with address lines adjusted, etc, to match the GVP configuration.  Maybe I'm dreaming...

Thanks
