My "new" A2000HD
« on: February 04, 2012, 01:23:56 AM »
I finally got the A2000HD looked at, and set up. It is a slightly newer version in that it has 1Mb of chip RAM but that's about it for "new". The "Hard Drive Controller" is a 2090a (OH no....) and the hard drive is a Rodime (not sure what size, it is not being recognized at the moment). There's a RAM card that is chuck of DIP chips - that gives a huge 2Mb.
I just found a real Amiga disk that came with it - An A2000 HD, A2500 ReInstall Disk that I will try in just a bit.
It has a 2.0 ROM with I'll guess 2.04 (full set ot disks came with it)
The computer looks brand spanking new inside and out. The battery is even in perfect shape (supposedly it is new)
As soon as I get batteries, I take a few photos.
It boots fine from floppy, so when I get the hard drive up and running all should be well....

A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

I haven't danced with one of these controllers for years (and years). I used to have around 6 2091 cards, until all my Amiga stuff was stolen just over a year ago. I'll find another real SCSI card. That way I can easily add a SCSI CD-ROM.

My A2000 had the 1MB Agnus.  If you wish, you may be able to fit a switch to toggle it between PAL and NTSC (depending on the motherboard).  I just swtched my to PAL and left it.  Kickstart 3.1 would be a good addition.

I don't know how much I will do on this machine. I just found another with a v6.x motherboard, with a GVP '030, FF/SD, and 3.1, with 2091 & 2Gb drive. I may keep this A2000HD "stock". It is so clean, and not hacked at all.
Push come to shove, I may even sell it....
