Ok, first of all, the PPS 2000-040 is a very nice 040 board ( I have 2 of them ). Make sure that the Kickstart in your Amiga 2000 is 2.04 and that you are using either Workbench 2.04 or 2.1. The PPS 2000-040 board does not work properly with Kickstart / Workbench 3.x. The board requires at least 4 megs of ram installed to work. The memory are 30-pin SIMMs 1 meg or 4 meg non-parity (2 or 8 chips).........l have to be replaced. Leaking batteries can "pop" or "splash" their corrosive paste to nearby areas of the board.
I have an A2000 with this accelerator with 32 Mb RAM, and it runs great with 3.1 installed! I received this computer like this, so I am not sure what the original owner went through - (Any comments Tone007? )
