Dealing on eBay really isn't that hard, OR dangerous - IF you only deal with the online auctions and deal deal with people with a good feedback ratings.
I started both buying and selling on eBay about eight months ago - and (knock on wood) I haven't had one single problem. Another rule is to use Paypal exclusively (it may be pricey, but its safe).
