I have an A4000T sitting right here that I installed one of these units in. I am not overjoyed with the performance, but it is better, until I can get the Picasso card working again.
I did have to extend the lines (wires), but that is a snap.
Eye ball everything carefully - it may not be as bad you think.
It's a shame you're so far away, I could pop it in for you.................
A2000 GVP 40MHz \'030, 21Mb RAM SD/FF, 2 floppies, internal CD-ROM drive, micromys v3 w/laser mouse
A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

Exactly how many wires are we talking about here?

The two lines going to the Lisa needed to be extended by an inch or so on the unit I have. The PCB is a VERY tight fit, but it did go in. However, A friend has a 4000T that this unit would not fit in. There is now way the PCB would go in, so I see first hand what you are saying. I wonder why? different version mobo?
