OOO I`m scared
« on: January 16, 2003, 04:08:46 PM »
Hello people

Just wondering now I`ve got my computer up and running again. I now have a 40gb IDE HD to replace my 9.1gb SCSI one. I for obvious reasons want all that nice space. I don`t know if it was a coincidence but my last HD decided not to work when I tried to get the extra space using SFS. I`m scared to try SFS now. If this HD goes I`m stuffed. I need to get on with some work with it. I`ve been out of action for about a week already and I won`t be able to get fully up and running today either.

Can somebody explain how exactly to get a partition using HDToolbox and SFS. Also what each step may do. Basically I need as much info as possible. I don`t want to mess this up. Not that I think I messed up last time.

Thanks

My system is at www.NOLIN.net/computer.htm

I think I`ll manage, but I`m scared of doing it. I know how to partition etc. I`m just scared. I may test it out on a spare HD first.

Which is best PFS or SFS? SFS is still in development though. I have PFS3, but have never used it.

@RYU

Hehe I plan on getting an IDE->SCSI adaptor when I have the cash. I want space, but cheapely at the moment. I don`t care about speed so much. I will use my surviving SCSI drive if I need speed, though the chances of that are quite slim. I don`t do much video/ sound stuff.

@Castellen

I`ll be OK.....but thanks anyway. Hmm I may try both PFS and SFS. Though as SFS is installed at the moment, I will go with that first. I`ll let you know when I`ve done it. If I`m not back for a while and theres complaints about Windows 98 then you`ll know I`ve had problems.

Thanks
