The first Amiga 1000s built : serial number question
« on: September 12, 2005, 10:26:23 PM »
Does anybody know how the serial numbers worked in the first Amigas built? Did it start at 000001 and add up for each new Amiga? How many Amigas did they make per month in the early days?

I'm wondering because I just opened the case of my new Amiga 1000 (what a beautiful thing!) and it says it was made in November 1985 and the inside cover has the "signatures" of the Amiga team. (not actual signatures, but raised plastic)

Is November the start of mass production?

[Edit] Duh! The serial number I was looking at seems to be the internal power supply serial number. I'd still like to know how the serial numbers went though.

Thanks for the link, Piru.

Well, it seems that I don't have one of the first Amiga 1000s, but not one of the last either. It doesn't really matter, at least it works perfectly.

I used to think the inside of the A500 looked high quality, but the A1000 is solid and beautiful.
