Copy & Paste with proportional fonts
« on: July 29, 2004, 08:36:03 PM »
I use PowerSnap 2.2a and it works fine with fixed-width fonts, but doesn't work at all with proportional fonts.

Has anyone gotten PowerSnap to work with proportional fonts or know of another text copy&paste program that does work? (in WB3.1)

Nobody?? Come on, I thought somebody would know. Copying & pasting text is a pretty basic OS function.

(Maybe it's just not an exciting enough thread title. I should have added the word 'SEX')

No, the manual doesn't say that it won't work with proportional fonts. There is an ALLFONTS switch and it says that 'PowerSnap will try all open fonts in memory when it is looking for characters'.

But if PowerSnap doesn't work with proportional fonts, is there a program that does? What is everybody using for WB copy & paste?

@Jope

Yes, most modern programs support clipboard, but you can only usually clip text within editor windows. I'm talking about clipping text anywhere you see it. Like try clipping text in an AmigaGuide document. You can't, but you can with powersnap. I can clip text anywhere on the screen: buttons, window titles, etc and it saves the tedious typing. Powersnap is awesome and one of my most used programs. It just doesn't work with proportional fonts and I thought I could get it to work or find another program.

Thanks for the MCP suggestion, but when I tried MCP last year it was just crash, crash, CRASH. (and I spent hours trying it)

@itix

Isn't MUI 3.9 MorphOS only?
