I like my XBox, Miday Treasures is great! Also Halo (2 when I get it), Project Gotham 2, and a couple of others. But I just have no impetus to bother with getting it to emulate something else ... dunno why.
As for piracy, very old games might not be a big deal, but most places outside of BTTR also hock much more recent stuff that people are trying to sell commercially.
