Slide Scanner
« on: October 22, 2003, 11:28:29 AM »
Hi,

I'm a bit of a photographer and I would like to be able to make digital scans of my negatives. I use Fuji slides and Kodak T-Max and Tri-X B/W negatives, So there should be no problem with additional software for colour scheme matching with colour negatives. Apart of that has anyone ever tried or used a slide scanner with an amiga? Are there any drivers for that kind of hardware? Any recommendations? I already have an Epson GT-9000 flatbed scanner that I use for scanning my prints, but of course nothing even comes close to the original negative. Maybe the cheapest - and most compatible - solution would be using a slide adaptor for that scanner. But what about the quality? Any comments on that?

Thanks for any advice,
Justin

So maybe the solution is using a slide scanner on my PC and copying the files to my amiga via my network? Pity as I hate Photoshop, it's so slow on my 500MHz PentIII.
So I guess my scanner's resolution is 2400dpi. Is it really not good enough? I mean I'm not going to use the scans for anything professional. Just to put them on the net or catalog them. I have my own dark room for B/W and if I want good prints from my slides I go to a Fuji lab. Trouble is that I of course don't enlarge all my negatives and that leaves me with alot of pictures I've never seen real size. Being able to scan them would then tell me if I made the wrong decision not to enlarge a nevative.

PS Jean-François, comment va-t-il avec le PAR?
