Squirrel scsi
« on: July 02, 2004, 02:44:48 PM »
hey all I just got a squirrel and cd rom from ebay to use with my A1200, it has arrived but without drivers, I've asked the seller about it just now, but thought I'd just ask you lot if there was somewhere I could get them as I don't have too much faith in ebayers!

Thanks

Robert

that's fine although I still can't get the Ami to PC link to work, and the seller I bought it off isn't responding to emails. Heeeelp!

ok I figured out crossdos, just trying to get the dms image onto a disk with some programs from aminet, a lot of hassle though, nothing ever seems to work on the amiga, I'm not sure why someone would sell a cd-rom without drivers, that's like selling a car without wheels... grrr :pissed:

I downloaded blitzDMS but I couldn't get it to work, however I've ordered the drivers from a website I found, I just can't help thinking how much easier it would have been if I had have had the proper disks in the first place, as far as nothing working is concerned my OS 3.0 installation disk didn't do things properly as it should have done so currently I have a bodged installation as I know the square route of sod all about amiga commands, and secondly my Ami to pc link has never worked and I've tried everything.. sheesh! *lets off steam*

Lol the only thing that has worked out of the box is that blizz you sent me!

Hehe cheers Blob, sorry about my impatience everyone just that I've been a windows user all my life so this is very different, I'm trying to set up A SCSI cd rom on a Squirrel pcmcia interface that I bought on ebay. The bloke reckons he had the drivers on his hard disk. I have all the books and gubbins just no disks! The Ami to PC linkup is a parallel lead with software but I spent about an hour trying to get it to work to no avail :-(

I've actually ordered the drivers from a site I found, so fingers crossed they'll come on disk, it'd be kinda silly if they didn't :-P and hopefully they will actually turn up! I think the CD rom will make it a lot more easy to transfer files without getting an ethernet card :-)

Well, I ordered the driver from http://www.amigautils.co.uk/

I hope it's still alive, I'm trying to use the cd-rom with a Blizzard 1230 IV

It's in a black case and mounts with the squirrel logo facing down, if that's any help?

Robert

I'll probably need to get a new A1200 PCB anyway was I managed to break one of the PCMCIA pins whilst inserting this card the wrong way up (I thought it would go logo facing upwards) Doh!

Thanks Hopper, I may take you up on that if they don't arrive within a week, where abouts are you, I could mail you some floppies with a stamped addressed envelope maybe?

We'll see, as it is I don't know if it will work as I broke one of the end pins in my PCMCIA port, I suppose it's just one pin so if I'm lucky it may still work lol

Hey hey just a quick update, I finally sorted out my pcmcia port and have the software I need, but low and behold, mr clever ebay man didn't send a scsi terminator in with the stuff so I still can't use my cd-rom, anyone know somewhere in the U.K I can buy a scsi terminator?

Thanks
