I Have a Combo Rev. 3 And have also found it to be a pain. After weeks of fiddling and swapping mainboards I did get it to work solidly, though the SCSI Isn't very good, High CPU Load when in use despite it supposed the be DMA Capable to local RAM (This has been confirmed as a problem by another user testing).
My other A2000 Has a Blizzard 2060, I Know it's a much newer design but the difference is night and day, if you can find a 2040 For a reasonable price I'm sure you'll be pleased as punch
