Hey, I've never used a powerflyer but yeah 2.6mb/s is dang slow.
You can speed up FFS by using Directory Cache when you format the drive, But I'd recommend using SFS. I use 1.236 from Aminet, never had any trouble with it and it's faaaast :-)
Be sure to read the docs first though to get the Filesystem Identifier.
