Woo hoo!

Just installed os4.1 on my A4000 in a mediator tower tonight.
...
rtl8029aas ethernet card(i hate i cant use my 100Mbit card with fastethernet.device!)
...
we need a driver for the fastethernet.device..hint hint ;)
...

Hmmmm - that means that I would have to downgrade from the 100mBit I can use with Os 3.9/WarpOS to 10 mBit with OS 4.1 classic?

I just upgraded my DSL bandwidth to 50 mBit - so I couldn't benefit from this upgrade any longer and would have to get an inferior NIC for OS 4.1 and live with just 10mBit?

Not very encouraging, if you ask me...

EDIT:
Can we expect this to be fixed with a future Update to OS 4.1 classic?

What kind of speeds can you get under OS 3.9 with the FastEthernet driver? (on your local network?)

If you could suggest a measuring tool for the Amiga I could run a test when I'm back home...

I haven't done any testing lately, but I seem to recall you didn't really gain much speed using the RTL8139 vs. the RTL8029.

???
I used the NIC I have now from the very beginning when I expanded my A4kPPC with a Mediator PCI bus board.
ATM I can't remember the number of the RTL chip - but it is not the one that is supported in OS 4.x classic.

Using a USB ethernet adapter connected to the Deneb you can get nearly 1MB/sec on the local network.

Just one mB/sec?
With DENEB in DMA mode in a Zorro III slot and using USB 2.0 highspeed?

Nah - the difference doesn't seem that big if I copy files across USB devices compared to copying them between my HDs with the 40 mBit/sec of the UW-SCSI host on the CSPPC.

Is there a (classic) Amiga tool to measure USB transfer rates?
My guess would be around 10-15 mBit/sec...
