I have a bit of experience here.
I tried using the Montek cable as above with a AT PSU and it does work, but I couldn't get any sound.
Instead I bought StevenJGore's excellent converted A500 PSU and it works perfectly. A very good conversion.
It gives me enough power to supply the CD32/SX32 with HD, an external Floppy and keyboard.
