Back! ;-)

Hi Amigans!

I have not been on here in almost a year... maybe a little more. Some things have changed, my A1000 has since stopped working after a LOOONNNGGG life of almost 19-20 years. I gave all my Amiga disks to my best friend who has a "old new stock" A500.

I've upgraded to a high-Intel server motherboard, 80GB hdd, GeForce 9800 Pro all in a sleek Nvidia black case. While the system will not be here till my birthday this coming week, as the parts (minus the case) are a gift from my best friend.

I have downloaded the new AROS (Icaros) distro, and plan to run it solo.

For those who do not remember me, my name is Joshua H., I am 24 now and I live in TX. I started using the A1000 back when I was 4, and I used it till a couple of years ago. I am currently in school, and doing better health wise than previously.

Greetings!

JEH

On the question on why I left, I have had health issues my entire life. I've been hospitalized quite a bit, though over the past year or so I have been doing good.

Yes! :) I was using my Father's 1000 when I was four in 1989. By the time I was 7 it was given to me, and I was writing full fledged programs in Amiga Basic. I had successfully modified the Workbench 1.3 boot up sequence back during that time, and even wrote my own GUI that I had boot from AmigaDOS and it ran instead of the Workbench interface. many years later, it was of course about 23 years old (old as me) and it just stopped working. As I mentioned in another post, it's being replaced by a pc which was formely a server at a friend's workplace. It will be running the latest AROS only, I really do not enjoy having to use Windows on my Father's laptop.. especially VISTA.. yuk! Even he does not like VISTA. But yeah I'm an Amiga kid.. that's all I used until 2000, even then it was used along side my PC until it died.
