Thanks to
rayt for THIS link! Ryan is revealed as being
born in 1982.
I ended up at
Myths & Legends of Merlancia which goes into detail about Merlancia's Amiga Active Magazine Advertisements, and Amiga Active's August 2001 article on Merlancia.
I was able to find my copy (issue 23) and dove into it as the site's mp3's downloaded!
(A word of warning for those with Dial-up --
lies.mp3 is 2.9Kb, and
secretagentman.mp3 is 4.4Kb!)
On page 36 (AA issue 23) Ryan says:
I was a part of Plainview Electronic Design, an industrial product supplier and design firm, founded in 1977/78. I was Vice President of Hardware Design as well as co-founder. The President (other co-founder) took a larger cut out of the profits, so I left the company and started to work under the new name of Merlancia Design LLC.
Wonder if Ryan had been born by THIS stage? :-)
Later on, he starts to drop the names of
Harv Laser,
Malcolm Brenner,
Chris Aldi,
David Crewford, and
Dave Haynie who (he says) is his CTO!
A bit later, he speaks of Spielberg saying:
Ah, if you knew Steven, like I know Steven... Actually, we are expecting good relations with Spielberg Studios, as they have used Amiga systems in the past, but ILM is another matter.
In the piece on
page 10, both the
Zico specification, and
bplan's PegaSOS PowerPC motherboard are mentioned . . . . having a bet BOTH ways? He also reckons that Jens Schoenfield will provide the "CLeo controller device" (a condensed Catweasel?) for Amiga native floppy disk access!
I think Ryan should become a Science Fiction writer -- look HOW FAR L. Ron Hubbard went!
