Juliet & Rockridge -- ???
« on: June 12, 2003, 07:09:23 PM »
I've just received my PageStream4.1 Install which I ordered
through the recent SPECIAL Price offer!

On OPENing the CD on Workbench, I found I had to use the
"Show - All files" option for Icons! Then, ALL the
FILES appeared as those horrible MboodyS 8.3 truncated vers!

A equiry to Grasshopper LLC brought the advice to 'enable'
Juliet and Rockridge long-file-name support in my CDFSys!

I openned up my Driver, AmiCDFS, but could find no
Entry or Value identified as one of these ISO standards!

(Here's the entry:) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

/* $VER: CD0 2.36 (22.08.96)
 *
 * CD-ROM filesystem mount entry
 *
 * Created by Amigactive CD AmiCDFS installer
 */

         Device = 2060scsi.device
     FileSystem = L:AmiCDFS
          Flags = 0
 BlocksPerTrack = 32
      BlockSize = 2048
       Reserved = 0
         LowCyl = 0
        HighCyl = 11000

        GlobVec = -1
       Priority = 10
        DosType = 0x43444653
      StackSize = 600
          Mount = 1

        Control = "LC BL=8 FB=32 TOSHIBA"

/* Unit number is given in icon tooltype

Can ANYBODY help?

afaik AmiCDFS doesn't support Joliet file extentions. If you have OS3.5 or OS3.9, they come with cachecdfs. You can just replace l:amiCDFS with l:cachecdfs.

Well, this is as far as I have been able to change the default values in AmiCDFS v2.40 so far:

Current Protocol: ISO 9660

LOWERCASE OFF
CASESENSE ON
HFSFIRST  OFF
LONGNAMES ON

I DO have CacheCDFS still present in L, as I'm running OS3.5 . . . .
Quote
I don't know if there are any other freeware CDfilesystems for amiga available, . . .

In L I have:
 AmiCDFS
 CacheCDFS
 CDFileSystem
 CDxFileSystem
Quote
. . .using AmiCDFS you could get IdeFix from aminet, unlha it, copy the file cachecdfs to your L: dir, make a copy of the cd0 file and name it cd1 for example, and again replace the l:amicdfs part with l:cachecdfs. This will give you an annoying shareware requester every five minutes, so best not leave it in devs: too long, just copy it to storage.

Disregarding that -- I've changed FS several times (as you can see from my L listing) and so, already have various cd0-2 Icons present in Storage/DOSDrivers/ -- but what you're saying is that CacheCDFS can cope with Joliet/Rockridge ISO standards?

Do ANY ToolTypes, or Control field VALUES have to be enabled; such as:
  /* AL/S Auto-Lower converts only non-Amiga CDs */

??

@all:

I spoke TOO soon - had changed to CacheCDFS when I last posted, but was waiting for a sys reset (or a crash) for the change to be mounted!

CacheCDFS worked on the PageStream CD, first try!

@cecilia: Yes, its in the 3.5 Prefs too -- guess I'd never tried it. On looking there, the active ISO Values are apparent.

 ° Hmmm! Here's a thought -- I'd known about the variables for WinPC CD-Writing! Last Classes I took (1st half 2002), some ran into trouble after burning CDs, and NOT being able to run them on the Laptop used for presentations! Wondering if its as EASY as that to change the default CD-Reading ISO Standard in Windows; and if Average ppl know how to??
