Having used the Cocolino successfully for many years, that does seem like an odd response. They do make it clear that the mouse must support PS/2 protocol, however,  so I trust that is what you are attempting to use?

Thanks to the help of others, I was recently enlightened about another, more compatible solution:

http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1272

take notice of this important line in the features:

support for mouses using both USB HID and USB-PS/2

Cocolino does not mention USB HID support.

I have yet to receive my order of the Rys adapter so I cannot share my experience yet but it sounds like it will allow access to more modern USB devices.

Well that does not bode well for me. What Logitech mouse did not work for you? I got the Rys MK2 because of the limitations of the Cocolino. I specifically wanted wireless capability. Bummer on FreeWhell also but not as important to me. I guess I will find out soon enough what luck I will have.

I did however have issue's with my Rys MK2, it works with a standard USB optical mouse but when using the scrollwheel with freewheel on the Rys MK2 it went banana's.
The Rys KM2 did not work at all with my Logitech Optical mouse sadly.

So I switched back to my trusty Topolino again.

Received my Rys MK II today. It works with two out of the three USB mice I tried so far. One that worked is a Logitech wireless.

I have another unanticipated problem, though. Since the mice I am testing are more modern, they have higher DPI values and my mouse pointer is pretty jumpy now. I cannot find a good setting in the OS 3.9 input Prefs. It is either too fast or too slow.

What I need now is a decent wireless optical mouse in the 400 dpi range perhaps. Something tells me this may not be easy to find.

I don't suppose there is a better input preps program? Something with greater precision.

Yes, I remember MultiCX. I was a big fan of it back in my WB 3.1 days. It took care of many things for one commodity. I abandoned it when I went to OS 3.9 though. I do not recall the details but it was conflicting with something or just caused the system to freeze. I believe I learned much later that something else was to blame. This discovery was made in emulation because my A3K was sold off by then.

I am using OS 3.9 again with an A1200 and was able to install the OS 3.x compatible MultiCX but I also remember now about shareware reminder nag window and the author being unreachable to do anything about it. It also is somewhat outdated with regard to OS 3.9 because it does not recognize the OS version correctly.

On the positive side, it does offer some more customization when it comes to mouse acceleration. I will have to play with it some more.

I did locate an MCX v2 key but it does not seem to eliminate the nag screen for the OS 3 version. I could also not be placing the key in the right location. Could not locate any instructions on this.

You can use various commodities to speed it up, slow it down, etc. I don't recall the names of any specifically but I *think* Multi_CX has this function. Plus many more. Check Aminet. :)

Funny, I launched Snoopdos to see if it would help me with any reference to a keyfile and instead and I saw the Tooltype you mentioned below. The exact string is "I_AM_REGISTERED". Unfortunately, adding it did not make a difference. Hmmm.

So I took your advice and found out that it should be "I_AM_REGISTERED=42". Seems to be working now.  :D

I believe the Multi_CX "key" is a string of text that gets entered into a icon tooltype.  Something ridiculous like "KEY=IAMREGISTERED", but I may be remembering completely wrong.  Am buried up to my elbows in projects right now and literally can't turn around to turn on my Amiga, but google search for something like that.  Good luck!  :)
