Can you identify this battery?
« on: February 17, 2009, 02:36:33 AM »
Okay, I know this is very off-topic, but I also know that the Amiga community includes very knowledgeable tinkerers.

My 13 year phone's battery-backed up storage finally gave out. I took it apart and found this:

I can't make out all the details but I do see 5.5V printed on the side. This appears to be very similar to the leaky batteries used in old Amigas, just not as wide.

Does anyone know of a supplier? I suppose I could even do the watch battery socket hack if necessary. But since the original battery lasted so long, I would prefer to use the same part.

Thanks a bunch.

I did some more checking and found out that this is actually something called a "gold capacitor". Which explains the second number (barely visible in the photo) that reads "0.22F".

Digikey is one supplier I found, and this appears to be a good match:

Anyone want to confirm my findings? $2.06 isn't a bad price, but I do not know if a QTY of 1 can be ordered on this site. I think I will try my local electronics store first.
