I know that my Canon powershot s50, worked fine under linux atleast...

Actually 2.1 MP wont even for printing out decent quality photos..

But anyway.. Really depends on what you are going to use it for.. I guess 2.1 would be more than enough, if you where going to use it for internet for example..
