Dunno where you're at, but I'd take a look around your local recycle center - mine gets whole palettes of retired G4s, you can get 'em cheap since they're mostly plastic, and they usually still work pretty well.

I'm from Manila, Philippines. Although most of the junks here are discarded PC which is beyond repair, seldom I see a junk G4s or G3 which is probably pounded to the pcb's lead and copper until you dont recognize them at all.
Wish I could go there and grab one! Sounds like paradise to me!
